KidsRights is going to participate for the first time at the UN High Level Political Forum (HLPF), organized under the UN ECOSOC umbrella.
The HLPF is the main United Nations platform on sustainable development and it has a central role in the follow-up and review of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The HLPF (9 to 18 July) is the largest annual gathering of leaders from all sectors of society to discuss progress on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This year, nearly 50 countries are expected to present their Voluntary National Reviews (VNRs) highlighting progress on the SDGs —with an aim to share experiences, including successes, challenges and lessons learned, with the global community.
NGOs with ECOSOC consultative status have the right to participate at the HLPF and contribute to the discussion. KidsRights participation at the HLPF is directed towards the achievement of enhanced child participation and child engagement within the UN processes for Sustainable Development. On Friday July 12 SDG 13 – Climate Action will be under review. KidsRights will be present together with International Children’s Peace Prize Winner Kehkashan Basu, who has shown the important and critical engagement of youth fighting climate change.
